Level 42 Set To Release "The Definitive Collection"

Slap bass fans can rejoice! Level 42 – The Definitive Collection is released on June 12th by Polydor, giving all you air-bass players the chance to slap away in your bedrooms to your hearts content.

Formed in early 1980, they allied themselves to the nascent British jazz-funk movement before chalking up an impressive run of 29 UK Top 75 singles between 1980 and 1994. The group filled stadiums the world over, and enjoyed unforgettable hits such as Lessons In Love, Running In The Family and Something About You.

The Isle Of Wight, a sleepy, holiday isle on the south coast of England, is not known for its pop talent. However, it was here that brothers, drummer Phil and guitarist and lyricist Roland 'Boon' Gould , together with bassist Mark King played in various bands during their teenage years. Phil Gould introduced King to keyboard player Mike Lindup, whom he'd met while studying at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. From here, the band was formed, leading to a number of albums and singles that found success both here and overseas.
