Paolo Nutini - These Streets

From Paisley in Scotland, Paolo Nutini is 19 years old - though despite his tender years seems to know a lot about love and life. This very fine song, with the minimum of accompaniment, throws a spotlight on a talented songwriter. Following a set at this years SXSW Festival, Nutini has his debut album out on the 17 July, with a "proper" single, Last Request, released on the 3rd July.

These Streets is a quiet, tender track, featuring a gently strummed guitar, with a quiet accordion playing in the background. It’s full of atmosphere, Paolo sounding very small despite the sparseness of the arrangement. The song is about his first impressions of moving to London, name checking the places in which he grew up. There is a real personal touch to his music, making this a song well worth investigating. Best of all, its free, available from the 30th May on Atlantic records.
