The Long Road festival announces stellar first line-up
After playing a poker face and teasing a new country music festival in Leicestershire for a few months, the organisers of The Long Road have finally revealed their hand for the weekend of 7th to 9th of September. And it's a full house of great country and Americana acts.
There are some big hitters amongst the raft of names announced including Lee Ann Womack, who is rarely seen in the UK, Billy Bragg, who is more commonly spotted on these shores, and The Shires, the UK's biggest country music act (sorry Ward Thomas...). Also coming across the pond are TDF fave Angaleena Presley, the guitar-wielding duo Striking Matches, laidback country boy Brent Cobb, Texas country hero Aaron Watson, and Danielle Bradbery who made such an impression at C2C this year.
Rare UK appearances come from The Wood Brothers - their recent album was a cracker - Ruby Boot, who we're also big fans of and spoke to recently, Parker Millsap, The Lone Bellow, and the fantastic new Nashville singer Kashena Sampson.
Mixed in with our US (and Canadian) friends are most of the best UK acts of the last couple of years including Danny and the Champions Of The World, who are an amazing live band, The Wandering Hearts, who chatted with us recently, Laura Oakes, Yola Carter, Cornish country band William The Conqueror, and the tremendous London duo Ferris & Sylvester who are set for great things.
Tickets are on sale now and available from the festival website, along with the full line up and details on what else is going on over the weekend of 7th to 9th of September 2018.
