The Digital Fix's New Music Friday: 13th April
Here we are with week two of telling you about some of the week's newest singles. In this world of streaming and playlists though it seemed a bit of a waste of time to tell people what to think about a song, so we stopped bothering. Just listen.
We don't want Spotify to become the only way to find new music, dictating what you hear, so these are our choices of the week's new music. Go listen. Love or hate, it's up to you.
A welcome return for Gruff Rhys this week. Following the wonderful American Interior, four years ago(!), will be tough but 'Frontier Man' is the first track from his new record, Babelsburg, just announced for 6th June.
A second track from Neko Case's upcoming new album, due 1st June. We've missed Neko in the four years she's been away and we're glad she's back.
Devon rockers Reigning Days release their debut album today and here's the latest track from it, the rifftastic 'Inhaler'.
To celebrate the release of the Johnny Cash "tribute" album, country queen Kacey Musgraves, her husband Ruston Kelly, along with Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson have released the video for 'To June This Morning'.
Another returning act is critical fave Janelle Monae, and her latest track, 'Pynk', featuring Grimes, is as interesting and out-there as her first two albums.
A current favourite of ours, Lindsay Ell, has released the video for 'Criminal', from her debut album The Project.
90s heroes Ash are back with their newest album on 18th May, and have just dropped the latest track from it, 'Annabel'
Sonia Stein also has a new video out this week; 'Muse' was filmed in the Joshua Tree part of California so look lush, and the vocals are pretty beautiful too.
