Elton John has personally selected The Storys to support him on his UK summer stadium tour.
But has he picked a plum?
Considering the accolade of being chosen by The Special One of pop, radio stations have failed to totally embrace the Welsh ‘soft rockers’.
So why is that?
Well, despite Sir Elt describing their debut offering as ‘fantastic’, this is not completely true.
The album does get off to a corking start with the first three tracks making an indelible mark in the head’s jukebox.
But after that, it’s a sorry affair with patchy song after patchy song as the CD peters out to disappointment.
The Storys are jumping on the harmony revival bandwagon, coat-tailing The Feeling and Orson.
Certainly track three, Cinnamon lives up to close inspection with its jump-around-the-room hook, as do its predecessors the opener I Believe In Love and Be By Your Side.
But after such a corking beginning, the tempo levels and the quality flatlines.
So it’s an 11-date UK tour with Elton at places ranging from Bournemouth to Charlton that could send The Storys into the stratosphere. It’s bound to happen – Elton’s too proud to be witness to failure!
