Tiscali Fund New Creative Talent Through Music Video Competition

In October 2005, Tiscali hosted a competition to give young directors an opportunity to create and direct their own music promo. Launched at the Raindance Film Festival, Tiscali offered one budding director the opportunity to create a music video by giving them a £1500 budget.

Richard Ayers, portal director at Tiscali UK, says: "We were already supporting new talent in music and independent film so it made perfect sense to introduce them to each other through the competition. We had high expectations and were not disappointed by the quality of entries."

A clear winner was chosen from a great selection of storyboards, Tristan McIlwhan Hefele and Ben O'Farrell entered the competition under their creative guise of Trisben who they refer to as a 58 year old film maker. They have made the promo for The Alps new single ‘Last Dance’ with the backing of Tiscali funding and invaluable Raindance expertise and resources.

The promo was completed in less than two weeks, in time for The Alps single release on 20 February. Stills can be seen on the bands website at www.planetofthealps.com

New London band The Alps were "very excited to be part of Tiscali's initiative to help new artists like ourselves. We believe their pioneering approach will help us reach a much wider audience and in turn make the industry as a whole a more exciting and diverse place to be."
