Cornershop feat. Rowetta - Wop The Groove
Perhaps trying to regain some credibility post X-Factor, ex-Happy Monday, Rowetta, contributes guest vocals to Wop the Groove, which is taken from a film Cornershop have been making about the London music industry. There's some fat, funky guitar, but, as befits the title, the tune feels somewhat stuck. The Dixons D90 Series, basically a man talking about cassette tapes (remember those, kids?) over squiggly background noise, adds to the impression that this is the band at their sketchiest. I'm not suggesting they call Norman Cook again, but it ain't a patch on When I Was Born for the 7th Time material.
