Various - Sessions Presents Steve Angello

Steve Angello, only twenty-three now, has been DJ-ing for seven years, recently graduating to remixing the likes of Mylo and Röyksopp. Unfortunately, this two disc mix for Ministry of Sound, while sleek, feels somewhat hollow.

It is, however, not without highlights. Say What You Want, Deep Sleepless Night and the super-niggly Get It On (Summer Love) are all fine house tracks with strong, sexy vocals (à la Rui Da Silva's Touch Me). Trentemoller remixes of Röyksopp's What Else Is There? (can't really go wrong with Röyksopp, can you?) and Yoshimoto's Du What U Du also go down well. At odds with anything else here, The Shipment has a nice Latin vibe, and Stoppage Time encapsulates that rocketing-upwards-on-the-dancefloor feeling. Otherwise, Steve Angello's Sessions may live up to that "dirty" promise (literally on Sexy As F*ck), but lacks much to really warm to.
