Various - Super Disco Friends (mixed by Dimitri From Paris & DJ Muro)
The mix compilation can provide a fascinating insight into the mind of an artist and their inspirations. Super Disco Friends comes courtesy of the record collections of two DJs: Dimitri from Paris and Japan's DJ Muro. All tracks are from the late 70s or early 80s, and the vibe is overwhelmingly disco, with diversions into hip hop and funk. The brilliantly named Mother Sucker sounds like it belongs in a blaxploitation flick.
It's unfortunate, however, that very little here transcends genre or falls into the "undiscovered gem" category (as you might hope from such a project). Worse, Frisco Disco and I Just Wanna Do My Thing verge on the preposterous - and not in a good way. These two CDs are only likely to appeal if you're a disco fiend already.
