Michael Jackson charged with multiple counts of child molestation
After the previous news item stating how acclaimed music artist Michael Jackson's ranch, Neverland, had been searched by police, he was subsequently arrested.
Santa Barbara's law enforcement then decided to charge Mr Jackson, 45, of "lewd or lascivious acts with a child younger than 14 under section 288(a) of the California penal code," district attorney Tom Sneddon said on Wednesday.
If convicted, he faces three to eight years in jail for every count of molestation he is convicted with. The judge presiding over the case can choose either to make Jackson serve the time concurrantly, or, if he deems necessary, consecutively.
Either way, it looks like the globally-idolised singer/songwriter will have his image irreversibly tarnished by these allegations.
