Strong Asian Mothers unveil video for 'Out of Love'
Best friends since their early years: Amer Chadha Patel, Josh Stadlen, and Kalim Patel, aka Strong Asian Mothers, have shared a new video for 'Out of Love', taken from their EP Lynx Africa due for release on 20 May via Kobalt.
Previously supporting the likes of Jungle and Fickle Friends on tour, the band have seen some really nice success so far this year. TMF are sure this success will continue if their new video is anything to go by; you can watch below and read further details.
The new video for 'Out Of Love' showcases the band's live credentials in spectacular fashion. Speaking a little more on their decision behind opting for a live video for their first *official* video, the band said: "On record we use a variety of synths, live samples, live instruments and electronic and acoustic drums. But one third of us happens to be the greatest drummer alive and so our live set up is distinctly different to our record. We have Josh on a full drum kit playing a variety of samples alongside his real kit for the extra explosive percussive element. We have also created a live show and chosen certain instruments and roles in order to create a show where every single member is seen as an irreplaceable "front man" in their own right. We felt that this was something really important to convey. So with all this in mind and with the small budget we had, we decide to do a live session. But not any session, a live session Strong Asian Mothers style. "
New single 'Out Of Love' continues to showcase their euphoric genre blend, with the band explaining a little more behind the lyrical meaning behind the track:"This song is inspired by the burst of energy that sometimes happens when a relationship ends, and the new found freedom that can come with that. It's also tinged with doubts about whether it was the right thing to do, or whether you've lost something that you won't find again, but mixed in with a sense of excitement about the next chapter."
Tying together influences from hip-hop and alternative electronic music, with a live band aesthetic that really sets the band apart from their peers - Strong Asian Mothers are an incredibly exciting proposition. Blending electronic and live elements they seamlessly bridge the gap between gig and club and really bring the party.
With their debut EP 'Lynx Africa' ready for release imminently; Bestival, Secret Garden Party and The Great Escape already confirmed for their summer of festivals, Strong Asian Mothers are starting 2016 with a real statement of intent.
Strong Asian Mothers play a London headline show at Sebright Arms, 26 May.
