SXSW 2016 - Tuesday - Austin, Texas
South By South West is an industry-based music conference/festival located in Austin, Texas. An average of 2,500 bands play over a period of five days so it's a great opportunity to watch the latest up and coming acts from around the world alongside more established bands playing slightly more intimate venues than they are used to.
My SXSW Tuesday was a lazy one, as I was suffering from jet lag and had to make a 4.30am call to the UK that took forever, meaning I had next to no sleep that night. So I decided not to run around too much, which meant it was back to Spotify House, grabbing a front row spot for the afternoon's duration, taking in sets from singer / songwriter Kacy Hill, an angry looking, and very entertaining, Jack Garrett and London duo AlunaGeorge.
I originally had plans for a lot of Tuesday evening venue hopping, including a 1am set from Peaches, but my body had other ideas!
I did manage to pop into Maggie Mae's to view a Chvrches DJ set, as part of SXSW's 30th anniversary celebrations, and took in a couple of acts at Latitude 30 - Ireland's Girl's Names and 17 year old Declan McKenna.
Both Latitude acts were on good form, but I found myself nodding off during Declan's set (no fault of the man himself), so knew I had no chance of holding out for another couple of hours for Peaches, calling it a day, hopefully refreshed come Wednesday morning.
