The Fix List: Honey Ryder
With a new record out and upcoming performances at C2C Country To Country in March, it was about time we asked Honey Ryder to put together a playlist together. Being at the forefront of the rise of Brit.country we shouldn't be surprised that front woman Lindsay O'Mahoney chose sad love songs as her theme. Perfect for Valentine's Day.
Bonnie Raitt - 'I Can't Make You Love Me'
I first heard this song when George Michael covered it....but then discovered it was first performed by Bonnie. It's got such a beautiful melody which makes the lyrics even more poignant....
Adele - 'Someone Like You'
A modern day classic and pop at its best! It never fails to move me....
Dolly Parton - 'Here You Come Again'
I love this song - the lyrics are so relatable - I think most people have experienced what Dolly's singing about at some point in their life....
John Lennon - 'Woman'
An amazingly moving piece of music - oh - and I love it when a man grovels....!
Kelly Clarkson - 'Because of You'
This song is potentially about her father rather than a lover - it makes me feel really sad when I hear it but the fact that the melody and her voice is so good, cheers me up!
Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow - 'Me and Tennessee'
I absolutely LOVE the film 'Country Strong' and this song has me in tears almost every time....brilliant top line, lovely harmonies and great guitar parts.
Gotye feat. Kimbra - 'Somebody That I Used To Know'
This is just a genius pop song - I never get bored of it
Willie Nelson - 'Always on my mind'
Another plea for forgiveness.....one word - sublime
Roy Orbison - 'Crying'
A classic - enough to make a grown man cry....
Phil Collins - 'Against All Odds'
I used to love playing this on the piano and singing along as a kid - the chords are gorgeous and the words utterly moving.
