Don Broco - TramShed, Cardiff
are arguably one of the most spoken about bands of 2015 and since the release of their chart storming second album Automatic, it’s become a pretty hectic year for the boys from Bedford. Performing at Cardiff’s newest venue, the TramShed, tonight marks the start of their pre-Christmas UK tour.
As soon as the lights go down the venue is electric. The foursome burst onto the stage with new single ‘I Got Sick’ and instantly start a deafening audience participation. The band are at the top of their game: confident, energetic and clearly loving it. They waste no time taking the show into full swing, smashing out track after track from their second album. Frontman Rob Damiani does an excellent job getting the rowdy crowd involved throughout, as the TramShed is getting the full Cardiff mosh pit christening. Mexican waves and never ending crowd surfers flying over barriers to the delight of the security team.
Highlights from the set include ‘Fancy Dress’, ‘Automatic’ and fan favourite ‘Beautiful Morning’. Damiani’s distinctively deep and soothing tones are on form and the whole band’s stage presence is undeniably electric. It wouldn’t be a Don Broco show without the typical push up squad that spontaneously breaks out during the crowd pleasing ‘Thug Workout’ causing five minutes of circle pit carnage.
After leaving the stage for a brief encore, the band returned to an ear-splitting reaction and perform the crowd erupting ‘Priorities’ (complete with the walk) before concluding the show on a fantastic high with latest single ‘Nerve'.
Since the release of Automatic it’s clear that the boys have perfected their craft and put on a show more than worthy of arenas this evening. Dominating the venue throughout a 19 song set is not an easy task, however the screaming audience of infatuated females and copycat lads is a testament to the cultural sway that their ladcore presence has at the moment.
