New acoustic track from Noonie Bao
Having previously worked with Charli XCX and released an album of her own back in 2012, Noonie Bao isn't a stranger to the music scene. We're hoping that her latest venture sees her gain more deserved recognition.
Following her 2012 Grammy-nominated debut album and this year’s sensational single ‘I’m In Love’, Swedish artist and songwriter Noonie Bao has released her Noonia EP, available now via Universal Music Group. Alongside the release, you can also check out a wistful, acoustic rendition of her 80s diva-style classic and EP lead track ‘Pyramids’.
Also featuring on Noonia comes the thunderous number ‘Criminal Love’, the beautiful melancholia of ‘Ninja’ and a triumphant finale with the infectious hooks of ‘Oceans Deep’, rounding off a bold adventurous pop record that showcases Noonie Bao’s unstoppable songwriting talent.
Born in 1987 in Stockholm, Sweden, Noonie was raised by a hippie family who prioritized things like having a drum kit in the living room rather than a couch. She has created melodies for as long as she can remember and at the age of 10, Noonie started to write these songs down in two different songbooks. One for songs that she wrote for her friends to sing and one she kept private, with very personal songs. This dichotomy represents Noonie to this day.
She is the sought after chart-topping, award-winning writer for some of the biggest artists in the world, but she also writes songs that are closer to her heart. For the first time, she is ready to share those songs with the world.
Noonie started her music education with some of the most currently recognizable singers in the business, such as Aino and Caroline of Icona Pop and Tove Lo. Noonie took a divergent route though. At the age of 16, she dropped out of school and moved to the Swiss Alps, where she lived a life of music driven soul-searching. Afterwards, she knew she was ready to taste the industry side for the first time. She got her foot in the door, literally, working as a cleaner at a recording studio in Paris. There, she recorded her first demos secretly at night and those demos found their way to an A&R at EMI Music Publishing Scandinavia who signed Noonie when she was just 19 years old.
In 2012 Noonie released her debut album, which became a smash hit across the Nordics and was nominated for a Swedish Grammy. In 2013, she wrote and was featured on Avicii’s #1 single 'I Could Be the One’ and in 2014, she co-wrote songs for chart toppers Charli XCX, Rita Ora, Clean Bandit, Inna, Bebe Rexha and Tove Styrke. She ended the year with a highlight, having co-written four songs on Rolling Stone’s #1 Album of 2014, Charli XCX’s Sucker. Most recently came co-writing credits on Carly Rae Jepsen’s superb third album EMOTION and before the release of solo singles ‘I’m In Love’ and most recently ‘Pyramids’.
