Victorious Festival 2015 - Day One - Southsea Seafront, Portsmouth
Victorious Festival takes place at Portsmouth's Southsea Seafront over two days, with ten stages playing host to a variety of acts, including a kids stage, making it a very family friendly event.
I attend 2013's Victorious in it's smaller setting over the other side of town, and was impressed by the increase in size, even though it meant bit of a walk between the two main arenas.
The Saturday soiree suffered from torrential rain most of the day, which kept my wandering to a minimum, spending the majority of my time at the main "Common Stage".
The day's highlight's came from sets mid afternoon to early evening, with Laura Mvula the first stand out, performing tracks from album Sing To The Moon alongside new material, with fans braving a relentless downpour of rain throughout The Magic Numbers appearance, their stint going down a storm with the wet but happy crowd.
Peter Hook And The Light also shone brightly, with a run through of "Greatest Hits" from Hooky's previous bands Joy Division and New Order.
Main stage headliners The Flaming Lips pulled out the stops for their excellent victorious Portsmouth production, with confetti canons, onstage monsters and a inflatable "Fuck Yeah Portsmouth" sign the order of the day, alongside a set including Lips classics 'Fight Test', 'She Don't Use Jelly' and 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Pt.1'
