Neverland Searched After Sexual Abuse Allegations
Following allegations of sexual abuse brought by a twelve-year-old boy, Michael Jackson's ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, in California, has been searched by police. Jackson's lawyer, Brian Oxman, confirmed that the search was linked to these allegations.
Later, however, Jackson's publicist, Stuart Backerman, said that Jackson did not have a full idea what the reason for the search was. Backerman added, "a rogue's gallery of hucksters and inside sources" have driven gossip over these allegations.
In 1993, Jordy Chandler, then aged fourteen, alleged that Jackson molested him at Neverland, which Jackson vehemently denied. Despite paying Chandler a considerable sum of money, Jackson insisted that he only did so to avoid being subjected to a media circus.
These new allegations came on the same day that a new greatest hits collection was released.
