Diefenbach - Glorious

What's that little blip on the musical map just where Denmark is? Could it be Diefenbach?

This Danish five piece formed in 1999 and have a wide range of influences; amongst them, Nirvana, The Cure, Simon and Garfunkel and, er, the Discovery channel. Glorious is the second single from their third album and is the sort of polished pop song that ought to break them out of obscurity. Right down to the guitar break, it's reminiscent of New Order in rock mode.

The extra tracks aren't bad either and pull gently in opposite directions. Country-tinged Travel The World could almost be My Morning Jacket, while Bittersweet Honey bounces along on a disco pulse.

Come on, chaps; you only have bacon to beat.
