Remember Remember - Forgetting The Present
Scottish band Remember Remember return to the game after 2011's The Quickening with the lovely Forgetting The Present. It continues their penchant for atmosphere over defined meaning, which means if you need something to drift by for those lazy days at the beach, you've come to the right place.
The shimmering 'Blabbermouth' starts things off, followed by the gentle dreamscape of 'La Mayo'. 'Magnets' evokes a mythic, pagan feel with its strong percussion and deep resonating piano chords. 'Pterodactyl' introduces a rather jazzy element to the proceedings creating an interesting shift in the sequence without breaking the spell. The sightly exotic 'Why You Got A Blue Face' is enchanting, and the bubbly 'Purple Phase' can't help but please with its infectious good nature. The album's homogeneity is its strong point, with all the songs complimenting one another without any jarring oddities to break the mood. A new soundtrack to the seasonal good weather.
