The Harrisons - Wishing Well
The Harrisons are somewhat closer to my heart than the average band are, given that they are a part of the brethren that is coming from South Yorkshire. particularly Sheffield.
Yorkshire has seen quite a few bands of late, giving rise to a possible dominance currently held by the North East and Northumberland. While the latter has similarly fast speaking and/or hook-laden bands like the Futureheads, Maximo Park, Field Music etc. Yorkshire heralds bands like the Arctic Monkeys & Kaiser Chiefs and now ‘The Harrisons’.
Filled with an obvious Sheffield accent, memorable riffs and a catchy string of lyrics the Title track ‘Wishing Well’ is well received, and dare I say it, an instant classic. However the B-Side 'Going Out' lacks something that I can’t really put my finger on.
Its all good stuff though, keep an eye out for these as I predict they may help lead a Sheffield musical uprise not seen since the likes of Pulp, the Human League and ABC were stomping the Boardwalk and other venues here in the Steel City.
