Bombay Bicycle Club - So Long, See You Tomorrow

Bombay Bicycle Club have had quite the rise to indie stardom, with high profile slots on the festival circuit and frontman Jack Steadman collaborating with Blur's Damon Albarn on his Africa Express project. There are hints of the latter's exotic elements on this their fourth album, but whilst previous efforts have shown steady musical progress, this feels disappointingly stagnant.

The opening track ‘Overdone’ acts piques interest, its psychedelic melody effortlessly interlaced with Steadman’s vocals, yet it's a false dawn, and much of the rest of the running time is content to rehash the sound of the previous album A Different Kind of Fix. Single ‘Carry Me’, with its duelling synth and guitar work, and the Indian stylings of 'Feel' try their best to re-engage but for an act priding themselves on experimentation, the samples and foreign influences are awkward bolt-ons. Disappointing.
