Singles of the Week

Only a few singles this week so let's check them out

Cass McCombs
The album opener from last year's double album Big Wheel And Others, 'Big Wheel' is a strong slab of country rock from US singer-songwriter Cass McCombs, not to mention a hugely enticing call to check out the rest of the critically acclaimed album if you haven't already.

El Libero
An thoroughly unremarkable piece of jangly guitar indie-folk that sounds like a song you've heard a hundred times before.

Gorgon City
With one eye on the summer already, Gorgon City's 'Ready For Your Love' supplies a strong beat and soulful vocals from MNEK for an effective hit of dancefloor house.

What's this? Are we in the midst of a some kind of Embrace revival? After The Red Suns a couple of weeks back, there's more than a hint of the Yorkshire outfit about Longfellow too. A certain shoe-in for the Dermot O'Leary show on Radio 2.

Single of the Week

Young Fathers
Pulling in members from Scotland, Liberia, and Nigeria, 'Get Up' melds modern euphoric indie with rap and soul elements into something that definitely bodes well for forthcoming full-length DEAD. Nothing else this week will sound more now than this.
