Music news round up: w/e 23 November

Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the debut of the TV show Doctor Who, British pop group Mankind’s hit disco single 'Dr Who?' has been re-released on Mondo Recordings. The project was spearheaded by the record’s original producer, Don Gallacher. Dos Amigoz have created a 2013 remix, 'Dr Who? (Time Waits For No Man)' by Mankind vs Dos Amigoz feat Diane Charlemagne.


An album Space, Time and Beyond is also available and comes in a translucent-blue, 11-track vinyl LP with gatefold sleeve; a poster; and a booklet featuring unpublished photos of Tom Baker from the first-ever American Doctor Who convention. A CD version with 14 tracks is also available.

Little Boots has a headline show at London’s Heaven on November 28th. She will be joined for the gig by a one-off expanded live band and promises seldom heard songs in the setlist.

To mark the show, the previously limited edition vinyl-only ‘Nocturnal Versions’, Tim Goldsworthy’s extended, after-dark edits of album highlights ‘Strangers’ and ‘Broken Record’ is now available to download.

Bloodstock Festival organisers have announced the latest troupe of bands to be added to the 2014 bill.

Taking the special guest slot on Sunday are Swedish Viking metellers Amon Amarth as they continue to promote their latest album Deceiver Of The Gods. Making a return next year, for their only UK show of 2014, Hatebreed promise to deliver one of the more brutal sets of the weekend. Also jumping on to the bill are the much-revered, pioneering post-metal trio Prong, who are currently working on the brand new album Ruining Lives, which is pencilled for a spring 2014 release.

Bloodstock will be held at Catton Park, Derbyshire from August 7th-10th 2014, with the very latest info on their official site and Facebook.

With new album Little Red out in February, Katy B has announced the next single to be taken from it will be 'Crying For No Reason', out on January 27th through Rinse. Listen to the track below.

Taken from upcoming British film Powder Room (released December 6th), 'Midnight At Koko' will be the new single released by Fake Club on the same day as the film's release. The track - which you can listen to below - is available to pre-order on iTunes.

Swedish post-punk duo Vulkano have announced that their debut album Live Wild Die Free will be released on February 3rd. To mark the release, the duo have unveiled new track 'Vulkano' - which you can listen to below - and a series of UK dates in December, with full details as follows:

2nd December – Sebright Arms, London
3rd December – Birdcage, Bristol
4th December – Gullivers, Manchester

Boxed In has unveiled the video, directed by Nils Hoover, for his debut single 'All Your Love Is Gone', out on 7" and digital download on Monday (25th) through Moshi Moshi. Boxed In plays his debut London headline show at The Waiting Room on December 2nd.
