Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Fly By Wire

With an oddball name one might expect Missouri’s Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin to trade in some kind of Flaming Lips or Mercury Rev style indie-pop and, you know what, that’s exactly what they do. A gentle piano opening leads into opener ‘Harrison Ford’, a swirling, brittle ditty that instantly warms you to SSLYBU. The Arcade Fireish ‘Young Presidents’ follows and would be the perfect soundtrack to a road trip to the unexpected. Things get a little dull and meandering in places but when they can deliver acoustic beauties like ‘Bright Leaves’, this is a minor quibble. The ethereal title track ‘Fly By Wire’ brings this album of delightfully summery pop to a close.

Some Russians undoubtedly still love Boris Yeltsin and, Fly By Wire should bring a lot of love Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin’s way. Lovely.
