Electric Soft Parade - Things I’ve Done before

SIDE-A:
The debut single from the new album “The American Adventure” was quite a shock when needle went to vinyl for the first time.
The medium paced guitars and almost pop like styling of the mercury prize nominated Holes in the Wall Debut album are a far cry away from the now darker and heavily guitar influenced “Things I’ve done before” yet almost slower guitar work, but none the less catchy as the old style ESP.

SIDE-B
As opposed to the name, a meander is not what comes out of my speakers! Much more up-tempo than the title track, Summers Slow Meander is heavy on guitars and drums and not much in between, and defiantly a breath of fresh air for ESP and what can only be described as a natural progression for the band, I was impressed by the lo-fi aspects offered, which is always a nice surprise and definitely contrasts Side A. I'd like to think that there will be more tracks like Summers Slow Meander on the new album, as it shows a new "raw" edge to the band.

Rating:
Well, despite its much changed fascia you can defiantly hear the old ESP just lingering out there somewhere near the back and it’s enough for previous fans (like me) as well as people yet to hear the grandeur that are the Electric Soft Parade.
