Findlay - Off & On EP

Having sold us with just one single and an exceptional support slot with Jake Bugg, TMF Tip for 2013 Findlay returns with this Off And On EP to confirm what we already knew. A little rough around the edges perhaps, but the EP delivers a salvo of blistering, thrilling rock'n'roll that, if there's any justice in the world, will see the 21 year old firmly established in the minds of many.

Perhaps surprisingly, it's the closer 'Infinite' that excites the most. We knew that when it comes to pulsating rock affairs, such as the title track, Findlay more than delivers, the gritty edge to her vocals the perfect fit to the frenetic, muddied guitars. Yet, 'Infinite' strips this away, leaving just the voice to deliver the goods and allowing the softer side through with stunning results - "Mistakes will be made but that's OK, I'm not ashamed / I worry about it when I'm older, thought I knew it all but hey..." It's a gorgeous end to an EP that otherwise throws itself in your face, commanding attention and fully deserving it, from the direct chorus of 'Fever' to the excellent rhythm and soft/loud dynamics of 'Angels Or Machines'. Big things surely beckon.
