Music news round-up: 8 August

French songstress Laetitia Sadier released Silencio, her second solo album since the days of Stereolab and Monade, last week on Drag City. Here's a video for 'The Rule of the Game', directed by Monade’s Marie Merlet.

'Northern Lights' is the third single to be taken from their second album Europe, which was released on Fortuna POP! in May. Listen to the b-side, 'Golden Age' here:



Cat Power has shared 'Cherokee', the opening song from her new album Sun, along with a remix of the same track by Nicolas Jaar.

'Cherokee' follows 'Ruin' as the second song to be taken from Sun, the first Cat Power album of original material since The Greatest in 2006.. Chan Marshall [Cat Power] produced the album herself, having recorded across studios in Miami, Malibu and Paris before mixing with Philippe Zdar (Chromeo, Beastie Boys, Phoenix). Sun is released on Matador Records on September 3rd, 2012.



Norwegian black metallers Vreid and England's Winterfylleth will play this year's Damnation Festival, as they head up the latest acts confirmed for the UK's extreme music festival.

London's death n' hardcore infusion Hang The Bastard and Leeds' Blacklisters also join the three-stage event which will be hosted in Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 3, 2012. For ticket info visit the festival website

Passion Pit have announced details of a UK tour for November as well as a new single. The band, who released their second album Gossamer last month, will release Take A Walk' on Monday 17th September. They will also embark on a UK tour that will call at the following venues:

Sun 18th November – Cambridge Junction
