T In The Park 2012 - Friday - Balado
Friday's T In The Park Festival started with a bang with The Darkness opening the main stage, getting the crowd fired up for the rest of the weekend with their heavy metal hits. After a brief dalliance with Justin and the boys it was off to the King Tut's stage to see one of the Fix's favourite reality TV pop stars - Cher Lloyd deliver tracks from her debut album Sticks & Stones.
The early part of my evening was taken up with shooting Example on the main stage, catching one song from Temper Trap on the way there, followed by Mr Olly Murs on the NME stage. Olly was in danger of losing the hat that adorned his head throughout the show as it was a bit on the windy side and he held on to it for dear life throughout the three songs I viewed, with the singer eventually losing the titfer during his third number!
Florence And The Machine was probably my favourite shoot of the night as I hadn't photographed Flo for a couple of years, with her main stage performance sounding pretty decent.
My evening ended on a slightly downbeat note as I couldn't decide which headliner to shoot. I ended up joining a few photographers who were taking the trip to the King Tuts stage to cover one song from New Order then shooting what we could of Snow Patrol's set on the main stage. Unfortunately NO were very late coming on, then played their first song in darkness! We all legged it to the main stage disappointed, arriving just as our third designated song ended.
It wasn't a major upset, especially as the rest of the day was very entertaining and productive and even the weather wasn't too bad throughout. Something that couldn't be said for the day that followed...
