Pinkunoizu - Free Time

The unrestrained quirkiness and experimentliasm that made last year's Peep EP such a joy has been unceremoniously jettisoned on this debut album. The band obviously went in to the studio with the same, ‘let’s start playing and see what happens’ kind of attitude but the result is terribly unfulfilling. 'Time Is Like A Melody' kicks things off pleasantly enough but you soon realise that the whole album follows the same pattern and it ends up sounding like the loosely formed, psychedelic soundtrack to a bad 60s road movie - one that rolls on interminably with no perceptible beginning, middle or end and is forgotten almost as soon as it is finished.

It’s a real shame that, after such a promising start, Pinkunoizu have delivered such a meandering and lifeless album.
