Seether - Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray
We're not huge fans of 'deluxe editions' here at The Music Fix, especially if it's just a case of asking fans to double dip for relatively new albums they already have. To be fair to South African rockers Seether however, this is the first time Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray has been issued in the UK (a full ten months after its American debut) and they have at least tried to soften the blow by throwing in a bonus DVD of acoustic material and a few remixes.
Album number five sees Seether pursue their agreeable blend of agreeable melodic, anthemic rock that sits alongside the likes of Black Stone Cherry at one end and Nickelback at the other, without every doing anything particularly radical with the format. They've carved themselves out a solid cult status away from home and solid, lighters-in-the-air material like 'Here And Now' and the Foo Fighters-y 'Tonight' only cement that position. Good value for those yet to make the jump.
