Queens Of The Stone Age - Little Sister
Hmm. Everyone seems to be here. Guitar hook - check. Haunting backing vocals - check. Meaty production - check. Josh Hommes soft delivery - check. Someone still seems to be missing. Who is it? Ah, Mr Originality, where are you? There's nothing wrong with this opening salvo from the latest long player from US rock gods but, at the same time, there's nothing here to get excited about. This sounds like filller material that slipped from the final pressing of 'Rated R' and has none of the grandeur or sheer quality that blessed their great singles like 'No-one Knows' or 'Feelgood Hit Of The Summer'. If this is the best they can do, then be prepared for forthcoming LP, 'Lullabies To Paralyse' to be one of 2005's great damp squibs. That is, if you haven't heard it already, you bad people, you.
