REM cancel Sheffield and Glasgow shows
REM cancelled their gig last night at Sheffield Arena at the last minute, after bassist Mike Mills was hospitalised. Now It's Overhead completed their support slot as scheduled, but Michael Stipe took to the stage at 8:30pm to announce that the show would not go ahead, as Mike has been taken to hospital and is said to be suffering from a virus.
Nevertheless Michael Stipe and Peter Buck performed acoustic versions of Leaving New York, Losing My Religion, I've Been High and The One I Love for the crowd.
The Sheffield show is re-scheduled for June 15th.
REMHQ today announced that the SECC gig due to take place tonight (22nd February) has also been postponed, but a new date has not been announced.
There is no news yet as to whether the remaining European tour dates will go ahead as scheduled.
