Machine Head - Wembley Arena, London
It was metal night at Wembley Arena, with Machine Head arriving to bust a few skulls, with support coming from metalcore band Darkest Hour, Californian metallers Devildriver and the much loved/derided Bring Me the Horizon.
Of the support acts Devildriver drew the biggest crowd, with many people venturing off to get more booze with BMTH on stage, or merely just staying to hurl abuse and beer cups! With Machine Head getting ready to come on stage, everyone was back front and centre and paying attention.
Breaking the silence, they went straight into 'I Am Hell' from their latest album Unto The Locust. In the front row, the horns were in full effect and didn't let up all night.
The setlist consisted of mostly new tracks, with songs from The Blackening and Burn my Eyes thrown in for good measure.
Machine Head put on a great show, and despite Robb Flynn being pretty static during most of their set, he is still very entertaining to watch - his vocals and skills on the guitar make up for his lack of movement, especially when he breaks away from the microphone to play a solo. MH probably could have played a few extra newer songs, but I don’t think anyone left the night disappointed, just all moshed out.
Setlist: I Am Hell (Sonata in C#) / Be Still and Know / Imperium / Beautiful Mourning / The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears / Locust / This Is The End / Aesthetics of Hate / Old / Darkness Within / Declaration / Bulldozer / Ten Ton Hammer / Who We Are / Halo / Davidian
