Incubus - Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff
It takes a special type of band to not only put on a set of just over two hours long (plus encore) but to execute it to an consistent high level and keep the audience's attention throughout; Saturday night at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena saw Incubus do just that.
In the middle of their tour for recent album If Not Now, When?, the set saw the band play an array of old favourites from throughout their varied and diversely layered career, alongside the new tracks from the latest album and, despite playing to a large audience, they managed to put on a performance that seemed somewhat warm and intimate. One point in the set saw them sit down, as though jamming with old friends and not a room full of strangers.
The whole room was electric as the crowd fed off the band's energy as they encouraged them to dance and sing at every opportunity, with the likes of 'Dig', 'Drive', 'New Skin' and 'Certain Shade Of Green' going down like a welcome late-Halloween treat.
And with a set list that saw Incubus pull out all the stops to make sure every generation of fan was catered for and every aspect of the band's career displayed, the end result wasn't just any gig: this was an all round event.
