Imelda May - More Mayhem
Last year we described Imelda May's Mayhem as "ridiculously accomplished", and that's still true now the album of slick, catchy rockabilly has been reissued with a handful of bonus tracks. Two of them are recent singles - 'Roadrunner' and her collaboration with Blue Jay Gonzales, 'Inside Out'.
Elsewhere, her cover of Patsy Cline's seminal 'Walking After Midnight' is a cheeky, light affair. Oddly, 'Johnny Got A Boom Boom' is flown in from her debut album - it's one of her best tracks but feels a bit superfluous here. If you're new to May, then this makes a great introduction to her sound, and at 21 tracks, represents pretty great value. If you've already got Mayhem, we'd suggest picking up 'Roadrunner' and 'Midnight', rather than repurchasing the whole thing.
