Introducing Murray James
London based singer-songwriter Murray James releases his debut EP on October 9th, through Deconstruction.
With his inimitable, soulful vocals, people cannot get enough of Murray James. Q have already praised his “frankly extraordinary and already instantly recognisable voice,” the Telegraph’s Neil McCormick tweeted “he looks like a golden god and sings like a bluesman”, and The Sun’s Gordon Smart; “the lad looks like Little Lord Fauntleroy but sings like Stevie Wonder.”
The EP, produced by Dan Grech (The Vaccines, Scissor Sisters), features
title track ‘Protect Me’, written by Murray; it is a rhythmic slice of blue-eyed soul-inspired pop. ‘Run For Cover’, co-written with Jim Elliot best showcases the singer’s mature songwriting; a simple guitar chord sequence, ascending into a soaring chorus. The EP’s closer, ‘Blue Today’, combines smatterings of jazz organ, heavy percussion and his glorious vocals to beautiful effect.
