REM Bounce Back With 'Bad Day'
REM return with a stunning new single, 'Bad Day', one of the highlights of their recently acclaimed European summer tour. Written by REM and produced by Pat McCarthy, 'Bad Day' is released on Warner Brothers Records October 13th.
REM - Peter Buck, Mike Mills, Michael Stipe - are currently touring the US. 'In Time: The Best of REM 1988-2003' will be released on October 27th. Full details of the track listing will be released later this month.
'Bad Day' will be released on three formats: two CD's and 7" vinyl. CD1 features the groundbreaking 'Bad Day' video directed by Tim Hope.
Earlier this summer, REM triumphantly returned to Europe and garnered rave reviews for their performances with sets changing nightly and focusing on different albums from their incredible back catalogue. Interspersed with classic tracks from 'Green', 'Out of Time', 'Automatic For The People', 'New Adventures In Hi-Fi', 'Up' and 'Reveal' were gems from 'Life's Rich Pageant' and 'Fables of the Reconstruction'.
Highlights of the European tour included two steaming shows in London at the Brixton Academy and headlining appearances at Glastonbury, T In The Park, and the Move Festival. They performed several new tracks including 'Bad Day' and 'Animal', both included on the forthcoming album.
"'Bad Day' was real fun to play live," Michael Stipe said. "And I think we got a great response from the audience. It was good to just get up and bang it out."
'In Time: The Best of REM 1988-2003' will be an 18 track CD plus a bonus disc that will include rare b-sides, out-takes and soundtrack music.
