Hard Fi - Cash Machine
In the suburban jungle, boys live a life of drunken binges, summer holidays for sun bathing, good times with mates, and occasional public urination. In their early 20’s and with an album titled Stars of CCTV, Hard Fi seem like good fun, and with a sound that embraces the good bits of The Clash, Dexys, Curtis Mayfield and Happy Mondays, these good time boys are set to become the likely lads.
However, there is a dark side of suburbia, and Hard Fi point out the highlights whilst giving the guided tour. In their album, the boys deal with those issues of seedy suburbia where someone knows someone with a gun, crime and drinking are dancing partners, and in the single Cash Machine, the issue at hand is the scary pregnancy of a girlfriend.
Musically, the single Cash Machine has a sound that starts like Mike Skinner would appear in a football jersey ready to emcee, but then turns into a rock’n’roll struck by an 80s rock lightening bolt. Yet, their sound exudes such a quality that they are bound to eat the big fat cake of commercial success.
