Björk launches Biophilia
Björk has launched her App that ties in with the release of her new album Biophilia, confirmed for digital and physical release on September 29th.
The Biophilia App is now available on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, serving as a platform within which each of the album's ten songs will become available as special audiovisual features in intervals leading up to the album's release. These include an interactive game based on the song's subject matter, a musical animation, animated score, lyrics and an academic essay. Two features, based on tracks 'Cosmogony' and 'Crystalline', are already ready to use on the free App.
Biophilia is out on September 29th through One Little Indian and is available in five different versions: jewel-case and digipak versions; on vinyl; and on two custom-made editions, the Biophilia Manual (which presents the music in a 48-page hardbound, cloth-covered, thread-sewn book) and the Ultimate Edition (which includes the Manual along with 10 chrome-plated tuning forks, all in a lacquered and silkscreened oak hinged-lid case). Both custom-made pieces will be available to pre-order untilAugust 12th only, either at www.bjork.com or www.indian.co.uk.
Longtime Björk collaborator Michel Gondry is also currently creating a music video for 'Crystalline', which will receive its premiere on YouTube on July 26th, and Pulse Films are also working on a 90-minute documentary which will be broadcast later on in the Biophilia campaign.
