Dananananaykroyd - There Is A Way
Glasgow’s most amusingly titled noise-pop mob Danananananaykroyd are back with the follow-up to their patchy but brilliant debut Hey Everyone! Produced by Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot), this is a far more focussed record with plenty of the hooks and ADD energy that made the first album so enjoyable. From the epic, punk-rock opening of ‘Reboot’ with its thrashy riffs and bouncy percussion to the razor-sharp, juddering melodies of ‘All Us Authors’, the band demonstrate more than ever their knack for bringing an edge to creative pop. It doesn’t get more enjoyable than ‘Muscle Memory’ and its intricate guitar lines and shouted vocals, and ‘Good Time’ shows the listener exactly that as drums pummel their way through angular screeches and plenty more screaming. There Is A Way has seen the band beat the second-album syndrome and come out far stronger than ever. Fiery, fun and more interesting than your average guitar-wielding indie band.
