Flogging Molly - Speed Of Darkness

Dedicated to the working class, Flogging Molly's latest effort sees the band tackle the state of the economy. Perhaps their most mature work to date, the septet confront the touchy subject with honest, hard-hitting words, whilst providing a beacon of hope for those that are yet to overcome their struggles, whether financially or personally; ‘Revolution’ and closer ‘Rise Up’ are both prime examples of this activist attitude. Musically, the group’s punk-rock and Celtic-infused concoction is as fresh, exciting and distinct as ever. The seven-piece are never short of sounds, continually switching it up from the accordion and fiddle flurries of ‘So Sail On’ and ‘Saints & Sinners’ to the guitar-driven blows of ‘Don’t Shut ‘Em Down’ and explosive opener ‘Speed Of Darkness’. Five studio albums in and the Los Angeles outfit are still delivering.
