Jimmy Cauty Opens Terrorist Aware Gift Shop
Jimmy Cauty formerly of legendary 90's band The KLF has launched an alternative Christmas shop along with the Blackstuff Organisation at The Aquarium Gallery in London. Jimmy Cauty and the Blacksmoke Organisation's gift shop are selling terror aware limited edition Christmas gifts.
"The theme of our shop is government-induced terror," explains the former KLF member behind the project. The shop has been open since December 1st and stays open through Christmas Day, which is the only day you can purchase the limited edition 7" white vinyl single, 'Black Christmas'.
According to Cauty: "We do have the retail advantage of being the only post-terrorist modernist gift shop open on Xmas day as far as we know." The products are inspired by the government leaflet sent to households this year advising on how to act under terrorist attack. Tempting stocking fillers/bunker essentials on offer include the Bunker Buster Jigsaw Puzzle (a limited edition of 100, signed and numbered where each and every one has one piece missing), terror aware tea towels, wallpaper, ties and hankies (only to be used when under attack).
There are also Christmas cards, fridge magnets, stickers and emergency food, batteries and candles for sale, many of which feature the image of the queen donning a gas mask (priced 50p-£5000).
The shop is located at The Aquarium Gallery, 10 Woburn Walk, London W1 and is open 11am - 6pm, 7 days a week and 12noon - 4pm, on Christmas day. The 7" single 'Black Christmas' is officially released on January 1st 2005.
