Home Video - The Automatic Process

Stick Kid A’s tricksy electronics, Thom Yorke’s voice, shoegazer Ulrich Schnauss’ synths and New Order’s sense of melody in a blender and you’d have something akin to Brooklyn’s Home Video. It would be an understatement to say that The Automatic Process sounds promising on paper. Indeed, the duo are expert at bottling melancholy and there are some nice effects here, like the bubbles rising from 'Description Of A Struggle'. Previous Home Video tracks have been utilised well mid-set by DJ Sasha (see Involv2er) but, despite everything being in its right place (geddit?), listen to eleven in a row and the effect is curiously numbing. While brains across the land are unravelling the complexities of The King Of Limbs, there doesn’t seem to be much buried here.
