Eat Lights Become Lights - Autopia
The sweet motorik strains of kraut-rock flooding your ears in hazy electronics and precise percussion. That’s what Eat Lights Become Lights debut album Autopia contains, plus a heap load more experimental fun. Having formed back in 2007 and released one single and played tours with the likes of Silver Apples, they’ve finally seen fit to give us the fully formed experience and, while indebted to the seemingly serious-faced world of Neu! and Cluster, it is a whole lot of fun. They really can’t escape that world though, especially with tracks called ‘Musik For Motorways’ and ‘Monorail’, but what they can do is bring a twinkling modernity to the vast, driving soundscapes and stuttering synths which make up the album. Throbbing electronics and a tight rhythm section outline each track, while waves of guitar noise and reverb laden washes of sound glide over and carry you off. This is track upon track of hypnotic krauty goodness.
