Fen - Epoch

Hailing from the bleak and desolate marshes of the Norfolk fens, Fen so brilliantly capture and transmit that feeling of isolation and emptiness in their music; a sound that instantaneously takes the listener out to those cold, harsh wetlands. Second album Epoch very much picks up where the magnificent The Malediction Fields left off, the eerie, atmospheric black metal crashing through in waves before gently falling away, only to come rolling back in with yet more ferocity. Designed very much to be listened to as a whole, the flow of Epoch is a master class in structure and form; bludgeoning slabs of maniacal guitars and blast beats slide into a deep meditative hush, only to erupt again when least expected.
