Gregg Allman - Low Country Blues
On the eighth day God created The Ramblin' Man, and he broke the mould after Gregg Allman. He is the one true original; a tough as nails Southern gent, hard livin', hard drinkin', been to the crossroads, played a hand of cards with the devil and beat him too. He's been through it all, the death of his beloved older brother guitar legend Duane, alcohol, heroin, three years married to Cher, and yet he has lived to tell the tale, his sweet as molasses voice intact. It's a shame that this album doesn't measure up to the man behind it. Amongst gems such as the bluesy 'Floating Bridge' and 'Devil Got My Woman', you have cheesy honky tonk roadhouse fodder like 'Blind Man' and 'Please Accept My Love'. Low Country Blues is still a pleasant ride however, if for nothing else than for Allman's glorious voice. The South will rise again, and Gregg Allman will be singing her praises.
