Here's the Press Release in full...
New York brother and sister bassless duo who augment their lineup to a
spikey and energetic 4 piece. They are back in the UK to tour with Hot Hot Hot Heat but have fitted in another Artrocker gig. Like Moldy Peaches before them, The Furnaces were spotted and signed by Rough Trade and have just released "Crystal Clear" as a single from the extraordinary debut album "Gallowsbird's Bark". Part Folk, part New York rock'n'roll but all infused with an excentric psychedelic late 60's vibe. A few years back , this undoubtedly would have been produced by Kramer and been released on his Shimmy Disc label (think Bongwater , Half Japanese , Ween etc). Although not a part of the New York anti-folk scene The Furnaces retain some of those lo-fi characteristics along with songs as strong as Catpower or Scout Niblett.
