The Black Heart Procession - Blood Bunny / Black Rabbit
Experimental post-rock heroes The Black Heart Procession returned last year with the brilliant Six, and reduced to a two-piece they seemed to have found their way again. This new mini-album takes in three brand new tracks and array of big-name remixes. ‘Blank Page’ kicks things off with its marching beat and dramatic piano flourishes, while second new track ‘The Orchid’ sees an ominous wall of synth ambience coupled with ghostly yelps. The third and final original track here, ‘Devotion’, has a bit more of a groove and healthy dose of organ thrown in. Of the remixes on offer, Lee “Scratch” Perry's reworking of ‘Freeze’ is just downright bizarre, like some strange dub-infused space-rock, but it’s Eluvium's 10 minute version of ‘Drugs’ which pleases most with its relaxing, orchestral feel and stuttering keys.
