Win one of three copies of Russell Watson - 'La Voce'
Russell Watson returns with ‘La Voce’
The voice of a generation is back, alive and most certainly kicking with a new album on a new label.
The tenor who practically invented the classical crossover genre is ready to stun the world again with ‘La Voce’, out November 22nd on Epic Records.
"Russell is the finest British Tenor of his generation and improves with every performance I hear, we are honoured to have him on our label" – Nick Raphael, Managing Director Epic Records
Recorded in June 2010 with the Roma Sinfonietta - Ennio Morricone’s orchestra of choice – and produced by Mike Hedges, Russell Watson’s voice has never sounded better.
Stronger, more driven and powerful, his renditions of Pino Donaggio’s Io Che Non Vivo (Senza Te), Mario Lanza’s Arrivederci Roma and Parla Piu Piano (the theme from The Godfather) are as impressive as you’d expect from a man singing with, literally, a new lease of life after overcoming two life-threatening brain tumours.
In 2008, when the Salford born tenor finished radiotherapy for the pituitary tumor that saw him undergoing emergency surgery, he decided to embark on a return to music.
He soon found that his treatment had given him not just a fresh outlook on the world, but a whole new, deeper, richer voice. “The tumour could have been growing for 10-15 years in my nasal cavity, so when I had it cut out I went from a V8 to a V12!”
Set for release a decade after his No. 1, Classical Brit bagging 2000 debut ‘The Voice’, ‘La Voce’ is Watson’s ninth – and most personal – album.
We have three copies of the album to give away to lucky TMF readers. Just answer the question below to be entered into the draw to win...
