The Cure - Taking Off

This single has so far slipped through the sights of the main avenues of airplay and it is somewhat understandable as this single is not a shining star of The Cure discography, but nonetheless, a pleasant listen.

Similar to the styles used in Friday I’m in Love and other happy and danceable Cure tracks, in Taking Off we see Robert Smith singing a romantic buddy song. The lyrics are jovial -- tonight I climb with you, tonight so high with you, tonight I shine with you...

Taking Off functions as an uplifting track in an otherwise heavy self-titled album, The Cure, released June 29 2004. And it has a cuddly familiarity -- these love cats have created a memorable Cure song of whimsical romance and dreams of tomorrow featuring Smith’s heart on his sleeve once again
